The Big Tree
all photos by S. Clarke
When
working in Swedesboro, NJ, I would often take a camera out during lunch no
matter the season to see what I could capture. I came across a field that
contained a magnificant tree. I do not know how old this tree was or its history,
but was amazed at the size and shape, and that it existed alone in this large
area.
In 2016 developers came along and to my disgust, took this
beautiful tree down to make room for industrial buildings. I had already photographed
this tree previously, and decided to document this monument's demise. Although
I would have rather seen construction built with this tree as the centerpiece,
I was surprised by the end result. I have documented this transition here
in pictures.
